In our experience fixed pricing benefits the bookkeeper/cpa , not the client. Clients are all different with different needs at different times. And unexpected needs during the year. There can be a possible dispute about what is "covered" and what is not. And the client thinks they are receiving a "deal" vs. hourly but after the on-boarding they are actually paying the same per hour or more. Another idea just struck me; if client is that resistant to your hourly rate what makes you think they aren't going to price shop you on the fixed rate? Thanks; writing this out I thought of another possible pricing strategy; package pricing.

Hi, my question is: if a business owner is interested in my bookkeeping services but says he has not filed taxes in the last 3 years and does not have any access to a quickbooks account that was created by the last bookkeeper he had. Should I take on the client and create a whole new quickbooks account for him or would you not take it and say no? Or what would you recommend I do in a situation like this

What should you do if every expense from the PayPal account is also on the credit card that the money is coming from. There are minimal to no transfers to/from the PayPal, looks like the PayPal is just another way for him to make purchases on his credit card. Would you just categorize the expenses in his PayPal account first, but then what to do for the same expense on his credit card? I can’t just get the PayPal account off his QuickBooks, so I have to manage it somehow.

My old bookkeeper years ago posted an A/R payment by debiting cash and crediting sales. leaving an open A/R balance. My books are correct but the A/R Balance show money due from customers. How do I change the A/R balances without write-offs or bad debt?

Hi Veronica, I've cleaned up the Unapplied Cash Payment Income report for the most part. What remains is a pair of transactions with the same date: "Payment" (overpayment by customer) and "Check" (refund check issued by the business); the payment is applied to the check. Why are they still showing on the report, and how can I clean them up? Thank you in advance for your expertise.
